Meuleman is a Belgian author, screenwriter and essayist. She writes columns and op-eds for several leading newspapers. 

In 2015, Meuleman published her first novel The Six Lives of Sophie, which received much critical praise in the media and was nominated for the Bronzen Uil, for best literary debut.

In 2018, Find Me Gone, her English debut novel was published by Harper Colins USA, Canada and UK to starred reviews.

In 2019 Meuleman’s second novel The Foundling was published, again to critical acclaim.

In 2022 she published her latest novel Cherish (Zie mij graag). With this book she won the Boekenpanda, a Belgian literary prize. The book was published as Aimez-moi by Éditions Gallimard in 2024 in France and Canada with great success. It was reviewed as ‘A brilliant novel’ (La Presse), ‘A rich reflection’ (Les Notes) and ‘A literary bomb’ (Radio Canada). 

Also in 2024, Sarah Meuleman released her first non-fiction book In mijn voetsporen, a deeply personal story about a long distance hike she repeated after twenty years (more information here).

In March 2026, Meuleman’s new book The Age of the Amstel (In de schaduw van het Amstel), will be launched in two languages. This novel takes the reader on an emotional journey through the history of the Amstel and five generations of women, all haunted and united by the same dark secret. It is the result of a unique project Meuleman developed in collaboration with the iconic Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam.

Meuleman has worked on several Netflix projects as a creator and screenwriter. She wrote the column series Tegenwoordige Tijd for NRC Handelsblad (The Netherlands) and De Standaard (Belgium), she writes the duo column Meuleman en Van Essen for De Lage Landen. For television, she hosted the art show Sarah’s Barbaren (VPRO).
